Re-building a 1940 Arden Atom2 from a well worn example updated 14/07/2012
In June 2012 I won this engine in an Ebay auction. The engine was not the main target as it was paired with a Bantam in extreemly good condition - the Bantam may not have ever been run. The Atom however has clearly done a lot of running. The engine was locked solid but a couple of days in acetone freed it up.
I have ordered the fuel tank for this engine from Woody Bartelt
I will keep a blog of progress here.
To make the removal of the cylinder head and the backplate easy and to avoid any new scuffs I made a removal tool. Click on the picture to see a PDF of the tool drawing.
